All About Mama Cow
Hi, I’m Lisa—solo mom by choice, former surrogate, board book enthusiast, serial entrepreneur, and the human behind Mama Cow.
This story started long before there were rhyme schemes or lovable farm animals involved. Like so many parents, my journey to motherhood didn’t follow the traditional path—and like so many parents, I went searching for children’s books that could help explain our story in a way that was honest, age-appropriate, and full of heart. Spoiler alert: those books were really hard to find.
So, I did what any mom fueled by love, lived experience, and a bit of stubborn determination would do: I wrote one myself.
A Mission Rooted in Love
Through Mama Cow (and the upcoming books in the series), my goal is to create inclusive, heart-forward stories that celebrate every kind of family. Whether you're a parent by choice, by chance, by science, or by something in between—you’re welcome here.
Thanks for being part of this story. I’m so glad you’re here.
Why Mama Cow?
Because families are built in all kinds of beautiful, complicated, deeply human ways. Because love is love, and science is cool, and sometimes we need a little help to grow our families. Because toddlers understand more than we give them credit for—and they deserve books that reflect their reality.
Mama Cow Has A Baby is a gentle, rhyming board book that introduces young children to the idea that some parents need help to have a baby. Whether that’s through surrogacy, sperm or egg donation, IVF, or any other modern path to parenthood, Mama Cow helps make the conversation feel accessible, warm, and safe—for both kids and the grown-ups reading with them.
